Sourav was born and brought up in the state of West Bengal, India. He has joined the Lovinger research group in the Fall of 2024 driven by his passion in the development of novel synthetic strategies to access pharmaceutically important scaffolds. Sourav earned his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Chemistry from the Adamas University, Kolkata, followed by Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from the National Institute of Technology, Manipur, India. During his postgraduate studies, Sourav gained extensive training in Organic synthesis and catalysis focusing on areas such as Photocatalysis, Electrocatalysis, Transition metal chemistry as well as Organocatalysis under the supervision of Dr. C.C.Malakar. In 2022, Sourav was selected for the prestigious Indian Academy of Sciences Summer Research Fellowship Program (IASC SRFP) where he completed three months of project on NHC- catalyzed organic transformations under the esteemed guidance of Prof. (Dr.) A.T.Biju at IISC Bangalore. Outside of academics, Sourav has a passion for hiking, attending scientific events, spending quality times with friends, playing badminton, capturing moments through photography, and discovering the uncharted territories.
